Influencers Raise Billions for Aceh and Sumatra Flood Victims

As floods continued to affect large parts of Aceh and several regions across Sumatra, a massive wave of public donations emerged from across Indonesia. Social media quickly turned into a hub of solidarity, with fundraising campaigns spreading rapidly across platforms. They reached more than 10 billion rupiah.

Dozens of Indonesian influencers and public figures, Irwan Diferry, and many others, took part in donation drives to support flood victims. Using their social media reach, they encouraged followers to contribute funds and essential supplies for affected communities. they reached more than 10 billion rupiah 

According to fundraising updates shared by several organizers, donations collected from the Indonesian public reached billions of rupiah within days. Contributions poured in from across the country, highlighting the strong sense of collective responsibility toward disaster-stricken regions.

The donations were used to provide emergency assistance such as food packages, clean water, clothing, blankets, hygiene kits, and medical supplies. Volunteer teams coordinated with local communities to distribute aid, particularly in areas that remained difficult to access due to flooding.

Transparency was emphasized throughout the campaigns, with influencers regularly sharing donation totals and distribution reports. Some also visited evacuation centers directly, documenting conditions on the ground to maintain public awareness and trust.

Local disaster management agencies acknowledged that influencer- and community-led fundraising played an important role in supporting official relief efforts, especially during the early stages of the emergency response.

While floodwaters have begun to recede in several locations, thousands of residents remain displaced and face a long recovery process. Cleanup and rebuilding efforts are ongoing.

As Aceh and Sumatra continue to recover, the scale of public donations demonstrates how digital platforms and influential voices can transform empathy into concrete action —bringing real relief to those in need.
