Bintaro – Thursday, July 25, 2025
An English course in Bintaro held a Native Class yesterday, giving students the opportunity to practice directly with a native speaker from the United States. The class, which took place at the course center in Bintaro, Tangerang, aimed to build students’ confidence and make English learning more natural through real communication.
The native teacher, Mr Hugh who comes from the USA, has been living in Indonesia since the COVID-19 pandemic. He decided to stay because his wife is Indonesian, and now he shares his experience and language skills with local students. His presence in the classroom created a unique and exciting atmosphere where students could listen to authentic pronunciation and practice real-life conversations.
“I was nervous at first, but it turned out to be really fun,” said Zee, one of the students who joined the class. “When we played games with the native teacher, I felt braver to speak English. I even learned new words that I never used before.”
According to Ms. Kamilah, the program coordinator, the Native Class is part of the course’s effort to provide meaningful and enjoyable learning. “By practicing with native speakers, students can improve not only in listening and speaking but also in cultural understanding. Still, we combine these activities with structured lessons in grammar, reading, and writing, so the learning stays balanced,” she explained.
The event showed that English can be both effective and enjoyable when students are given real opportunities to communicate. With games, storytelling, and discussions, the Native Class helped students see English as something exciting rather than intimidating. Many participants shared that they look forward to more sessions like this in the future.
The course plans to continue holding Native Classes regularly, giving students in Bintaro more chances to learn directly from native speakers while enjoying the experience of real communication.
